Sustainability

At United House, environmental sustainability means managing and minimising the environmental impact from our operations and delivering sustainable homes and communities.

We have always recognised that working in and around people’s homes is more than just about construction. It is about improving people’s lives to give them and the communities in which they live a better standard of living and a more sustainable future.

Key to our approach is our Sustainability Policy which sets out our ongoing strategy. Our long term sustainability objectives are to:

  • Reduce the environmental impact of the product that we provide
  • Reduce the impact of our projects on the communities in which we work
  • Reduce our carbon emissions by 1% year on year.

Our commitments to the sustainable agenda are supported through our membership of the following:

Building and working sustainably is vitally important, but sustainability also extends to the communities in which we work, helping to improve the quality of life by providing well designed homes in vibrant mixed neighbourhoods, with better opportunities for employment, education, healthcare and leisure.

Our sustainable construction activity can be broken down into the two main categories of new build projects and low carbon refurbishment.
